I am very impressed and excited after completing this week's readings. I am excited to see that Janine Benyus' book is being referenced here. I have read her book "Biomimicry" and have shown my AP Biology class the same video clip that was part of our week's reading. I feel that I am at least on track and up-to-date in my materials presentations in my own classroom. I am very excited to learn more about this awesome field
Another part of this weeks material that really, really turned me on was the article "The Pursuit of Creativity in Biology" by Medina show below. I agree with everything the author mentioned here and am planning on sharing with my colleagues when school resumes. The article really stresses the need for cross-curricular teaching; keeping up with the changes in the dynamic field of biology. Stresses the fact that many of our smartest students are bored to death with dry curricula. This article bridges nicely with the CI coursework that many of us IB 535 students have recently completed. I like the way this course addresses the need for changes in the way we teach our classes. Looking forward to learning more content!! Empowering!!
